Part 1 - Whitman soldier recalls Iraq firefight that left his body shattered: (MILFORD DAILY NEWS, MA) -- It was nearly 2:30 in the morning - time for the 2nd Battalion, 8th U.S. Calvary Regiment to pack up. They had been holding a rooftop in Sadr City, a slum just outside of Baghdad, for hours. The mission had been as clear as the Iraqi night sky - patrol the section of the city where suspected terrorists were operating from the elevated advantage of a rooftop.
