ASU's Pat Tillman Veteran's Center Opens: (KSAZ-TV, PHOENIX, AZ)
August 18, 2011
TEMPE - Pat Tillman -- his name is synonymous with courage, commitment and excellence. Tuesday, ASU opened a new veteran's center that bears his name.
Pat Tillman set the bar high for all who followed. He was the ASU football star who went on to play with the Arizona Cardinals -- and gave up the fame and the money to serve his country after 9-11.
Killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan, Tillman was all about doing the right thing.
And that's what they hope to achieve here at Arizona State University's Pat Tillman Veteran's Center.
The center will be a contact point for servicemen and woman, and their families as they transition from military life to student life.
"Hopefully it's that one central point where they can get everything they need to be successful," says Christian Rauschenbach, Prog. Manager Veterans Services.
Tillman would be proud. He once said: "Our voice leads us in a direction of the person we wish to become, but it is up to us whether or not to follow."
The hope is this new center that bears his name will provide a path to others.
The Tillman Veteran's Center will also provide assistance for veterans' benefits.Click here to view article
