Fort Lewis Pilots Army Alcohol Program Aimed at Reaching More Soldiers: (KUOW, TACOMA)
August 04, 2009
According to the Pentagon, the Army referred 13,750 soldiers for alcohol treatment in 2008. Now in the wake of increased violence, suicide and mental health issues among soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan the Army is trying something new to try to reach out to those who may need treatment for alcoholism. Fort Lewis is one of three military installations chosen by the Army to participate in an alcohol abuse pilot program. The "Confidential Alcohol Treatment and Education Pilot," also known as CATEP (K-TEP), will begin later this month. click here to view
