The country has to do better - much better - by its veterans. The VA is supposed to handle the health-care needs of about 5.8 million veterans, including more than 40,000 in Dutchess and Ulster counties. It is an awesome responsibility. No system will ever be perfect, but streamlining the claims process must have a sense of urgency that has been lacking for too long.
