Holiday gift-match program a boost for homeless veterans: (BostonGlobe)

All 297 of the men and women who submitted wish lists to the center's annual Holiday Adopt-a-Veteran program, which matches gift-givers with homeless veterans, received brightly wrapped packages. Many got expensive items, like leather jackets and well-stocked gift cards. Yet if the reactions of the handful of veterans clustered in the center's lobby two days after Christmas were any indication, it really was the thought that counted most. click here to view
