U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) believes the helpline has been so successful that he has written to Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki suggesting it be used as a model for a national program....The New Jersey Helpline, based in Piscataway, is a confidential 24-hour service manned by veterans who counsel callers and direct them to a wide range of services for everything from obtaining education or disability benefits to relationship issues to re-adjusting to civilian life. click here to view
