With a few clicks of his mouse, David Lin, M.D., a primary care physician at Northport VA Medical Center, knows the entire medical history of his patients. One of those patients, Joe Sledge, a veteran and spokesman for the Northport VA, allows Lin to share his records with this reporter. Within seconds of logging into the VA system, Lin knows everything about Sledge thanks to VistA: what medications he takes; what, if any, operations he's had and where, by whom, when, what time, and more. Lin can even view X-rays, radiology reports and electrocardiographs.
