My husband served in Iraq well after the "mission accomplished" proclamation. He's been home for a while. Our lives have been turned inside out and upside down and then chewed up for good measure.

He has severe PTSD to go along with his TBI. This makes life very difficult and we will never be the same again.

I resent that so many people think that because he still has his arms and legs that he didn't get hurt in the war. No one understands and furthermore, they don't want to.

People wear patriotic-themed clothes and go to parades and proclaim their patriotism on Memorial Day but when the rubber meets the road they ignore the vets and their families.

We don't have it as bad as some other families but it's still tough.

Thank you, Lee, for writing and speaking about these issues. I heard you on NPR yesterday and while it was hard to listen to it was encouraging because it reminded me that I'm not alone.
