Bob's story gives me hope. In June 2008, I, along with my two young children, were in a severe motor vehicle collision. I don't like to call it an accident, because the person who hit us was drunk and going about 100 MPH. Anyway, I was thrown from the car, despite wearing a seatbelt and landed on my head. By the grace of God I survived. People just aren't supposed to live threw getting thrown from their car. I was released from the hospital after 3 1/2 days because they said their was nothing else they could do. Amazingly, the only bone that was broken was my nose. The doctors said that maybe I would get better someday and sent me to live with my mother while my husband stayed at work to keep our insurance. I don't remember the wreck, but I, like many of you, live with the pain everyday. I have tried just about every medication that is out there, with little relief. I just have to depend on God to help me make it through. If it were not enough to be in constant severe pain, I have to deal with insurance all of the time. Our carrier wants to be reimbursed for care that I have received as a result of the accident. That makes me hot! The wreck was not my fault! My insurance should cover me for whatever I go to the doctor for, no matter what caused my condition or when I began to have these problems! Are any of you experiencing problems like mine? I want to connect with people who have TBIs so that I might be able to help them or vice versa.
