Hi, I had a severe head injury or a traumatic brain injury.. I was driving a jet ski and my boyfriends roommate was drinking and driving the other jet ski and ended up running over my jet ski and when he did that his jet ski hit the back of my brain stem and knocked me 10 feet forward and he hit me going 25-30 miles per hour when he was driving. My brain was swelling and caused many bleeding in my brain.I was rushed to the er at northeast georgia medical center and the doctor knew I didn't have any time so they did an emergency crainiotomy on me and removed part of my skull so my brain pressure would go down.. They only had to do half of what they thought. They removed 1 side of my skull instead of 2 and my icp dropped instantly! I was in an induced coma so my brain could sleep and heal for about 3 weeks.. Then I ended up at Shepard center in Atlanta.. I had physical, occupational and speech therapy for 6+ months.. The biggest problem I have had is depression bc my life has changed dramatically. This monday I take my drivers test at the hospital.. It has been 7 months since my accident . It happened july 25 of 2009. They say that ill never be the way I was before bc of the trauma to my brain but I want to prove everyone wrong! I want to be stable and not sad and down all the time.. On top of all this my father is dying of cancer. If anyone has any suggestions let me know...
