Dear ReMind,
Last year, while recovering from meningitis, I "felt" the call to change my life; that mystical experience led me to begin nursing school. I am thrilled that I have made this change, and I feel 20 years younger.
Having explored a number of areas of opportunity in nursing, I have decided that I would really like to work with the military with our soldiers recovering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Through research, I have discovered that the war in Iraq and Afghanistan have brought a great deal of focus on how a TBI patients recover, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
While I am in school, I would love to work with these soldiers, and if possible, get a job during my nurse's training. I live just outside Washington DC, and I am very familiar with Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Medical Center. (I used to be a surgical sales rep.)
Please contact me to let me know where I might fit in. Even if I only do administrative, secretarial, or appointment scheduling, I would be happy to serve. Also, I am able to type clinical papers for physicians and surgeons if necessary.
My cousin, Brad Webb, is a Brigadier General in the Air Force. Both my dad and his brother, Brad's father, have served America through WWII, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Kosovo, and beyond. Like them,I have always wanted to serve my country in some way. I cannot imagine a better way to help than assisting those who have served so nobly and sacrificed so much.
Thank you for all you are doing!
Kindest regards,
